The 53rd is one of the maverick patrols from Hierarchy Scotland, and one of it's best. While their constant disregard for orders infuriates the Anacerons, their success rate impresses them enough to leave well enough alone.

 The 53rd have joined the war in New York at Nachabe's insistance, and also because they love nothing more than Doomslaying. Already they have turned the tide in more than one battle.
