<Storyteller> Walking out of Emily's, the night air is cool and heavy with moisture
* Brianna walks down the dark street towards the egyptian embassy
* Brianna looks up at the sky, her thoughts in turmoil
* Daniel walks toward the embassy, eyes glancing around warily
<Storyteller> Thunder cracks the city noise and a heavy downpour begins to fall
* William keeps close to the grou and walks faster
* Brianna continues towards the MET
<Storyteller> The raindrops feel odd as they pass straight through you
<Storyteller> Angelo, Hans and Edward stick to the back
* William looks unnerved for a second as he experiences the rain, but continues on
<Storyteller> You reach the embassy after passing by several patrols
* Daniel hums quietly to himself
* Brianna enters
<Storyteller> You pass easily through the doors into the museum and make your way into
the egyptian exhibit
* William looks calm and keeps his eyes straight ahead
<Storyteller> Several Amenti slaves toil at their labors
* Daniel continues to hum quietly
<Storyteller> Finally the throne room
<Ahuru> "You have returned."
* Brianna bows respectfully
* Daniel bows. "We have."
* Ahuru looks to the slave standing next to her. He moves quietly to the back of her
throne, and passing by a door
* William rests his hand on the hilt of his sword and lowers his eyes respectfully
for a moment
<Storyteller> He returns with several other slaves carrying a large soulforged oblong
crate like object
* Brianna looks curiously at the box
<Storyteller> The slaves put it down and move away
* William keeps his cool demeanor and watches everything intently
<Ahuru> "He left this for you."
* Daniel nods
* Daniel approaches the crate
* Brianna smiles to herself and moves towards the crate
<Daniel> "Brianna? I think you should be the one to open it. You were closer to him
than any of us."
* Brianna looks at Daniel. "Thank you."
* Brianna reaches down and pulls off the lid of the crate
* William looks at the soulforged box in distaste, but doesn't verbalize his feelings
about touching it
<Storyteller> Within the crate are several cloaks, and something underneath them
* Brianna moves the cloaks aside to see what is beneath
<Storyteller> It is a very large and very thick book
<Ahuru> "It is yours..."
<Storyteller> You pick up the book and the inside reads, "This knowledge is yours use
it wisely."
<William> "Brianna...what do you have?"
<Storyteller> Suddenly the book flies open, and several pages begin to flip open
<Storyteller> The pages begin to rip themselves from the book and fly into the air
circling
* Brianna looks up in surprise and wonder
* William looks concerned, and watches-- waiting for what's about to happen next
* Hans looks at this in awe.
<Storyteller> the pages then begin to circle the group, quciker and quicker they fly
<Storyteller> Suddenly they stop and seperate
* Brianna smiles as she watches the pages, thinking that in some way this is bringing
a little piece of Ahuru back to her
<Storyteller> and begin to launch temselves at each of you
<Storyteller> Each one of you are struck by a page as it latches onto you chest and
simply melts away
* William flinches and throws himself to the floor
* William feels stupid and he realizes wat he's just done
* Angelo looks down with mingled interest and distaste.
<Ahuru> "It is done, you have been given a great gift. Go now...."
* William gets up sheepishly and inspects his chest where the page disappeared
* Brianna closes her eyes and smiles sadly
* Hans feels along his chest for any injuries.
<Storyteller> There are no visible traces of the page strikes
<William> "A great gift?? What did that page do, Ahuru?"
<Ahuru> "A warning, a thought, a gift...for the future..."
<Brianna> "How do we use the gift-- tap into it?"
* Ahuru sits quietly
* William wishes things were more straight-forward, and feels some frustration
* Brianna watches Ahuru respectfully
<Storyteller> Daniel nods, "I believe it's time to go..."
* William mutters about SOME people not needing answers...
* Brianna nods. "Where do we need to go now?"
<Storyteller> Daniel shakes his head, "Perhaps we should see the council.."
<Angelo> "Sure, why not?"
<Angelo> "We've certainly got a lot to tell them about."
* Brianna looks to Ahuru. "Is there anything else you need from us or wish to tell
us?"
* Ahuru sits staring straight through you
* William grins at Angelo. "Yes we do..."
* Brianna looks concerned. "Ahuru..?"
* Brianna tenitively approaches her throne
* Brianna nods in understanding and turns to the group
<Brianna> "It is time to go. There is nothing more to learn here at this time."
<Angelo> "Let's get going."
<Storyteller> You head out of the MET and onto the rain slick street
* William nods curtly and turns, walking out the door
<Storyteller> The rain has stopped, but rivers of water flow into the stormdrains
* Brianna walks along deep in thought, he hands crossed over her chest where the page
melted into her.
* William slows his pace to walk alongside Brianna
<William> "Do you know anything about those pages?"
<Storyteller> Suddenly you see several wraiths run by you
* William looks up in surprise
<Storyteller> Then even more run by
* Brianna shakes her head and watches the running wraiths
* Angelo tries to stop one of them.
<Storyteller> He stops, "What?"
* William squints ahead from where they're running from to see what he can see
<Angelo> "What's going on?"
<Storyteller> "The Governor just got arrested! the Grim legion is about to revolt!" he
says and he sprints ahead
* Brianna walks over to Angelo and the wraith to listen to what the wraith has to say
<William> "What?? Arrested on what charges?"
<Storyteller> The wraith is gone way ahead
<Brianna> "Let's follow the crowd!"
<Angelo> "Guess I've been away too long."
<Angelo> "Screw that, let's let the crowd follow us. I say we go to the Legion hall,
I wanna know what's going on."
* William shakes his head. "I agree-- let's follow the crowd!"
<William> "Hmm...good point. Let's go."
<Storyteller> You follow the crowd to the World Trade Center
* William realizes that the crowd is heading toward the Grim Legion building, and
begins to jog that way, too.
<Storyteller> You reach the Legion Hall and watch as several legionnaires look on as
the Governor is hauled away
* Daniel flags another Centurion down
<Angelo> "What the fuck is going on here?"
<Storyteller> A very tall man in a Puritan hat and attire leads the way out
* William jogs up to the Putitan-hat-man and tries to stop him
<Storyteller> He stops and steps onto a car, reaching under his jacket he brings forth
a parchment
* Daniel looks at the man, frowning.
<William> "What is going on here, stranger?"
* Brianna watches the goings-on with concern and confusion
* Angelo shuts up for a second to listen.
<Puritan> "To the citizens of New York, Governor Deter has been arrested to the
charge of treason! Conspiracy, and association with known spectres!"
* Daniel blinks
<Puritan> "He is to be tried here within New York, immediately!"
<Daniel> "Who were the spectres in question?"
* William looks confused and upset
<William> "Treason? Who charges him?"
<Puritan> "If found guilty, he will be forged into the Tree of Sorrow, that is all!"
* Angelo frowns.
* Puritan steps down from the car, and walks ahead of the guards
* William tries to grab the Puritan-man's arm
* Daniel restrains William
<Daniel> "Don't. You'll only make things worse."
* William looks upset and struggles for a second, and then turns to Daniel
<William> "Touche, eh Daniel?"
* Daniel chuckles. "We're even, now."
* William grins a grim grin and nods
<Storyteller> The Anaceron walks out of the Legion Hall and raises his arms
<Daniel> "Look, we'll find out the details...I think I might know someone who can
help..."
<Storyteller> "Grim Legion! I know this is a terrible day for us all, but please this
has to be a misunderstanding!"
<Brianna> "We need to talk to someone-- the Anaceron, maybe?" Brianna points to the
Anaceron.
<Storyteller> "The Council will figure this all out!"
<William> "Who, Daniel?"
<Daniel> "It depends if the Anaceron will see us...and he doesn't appear to want
interference in this matter."
<Angelo> "The Anaceron will see us."
<Storyteller> The legionnaires disperse grumbling
* Daniel smiles slightly at William. "The man who taught me everything I know..."
<William> "We've helped people straighten out misunderstandings in the past...we can
do it for our own city!"
* Sanders turns and spots you
* Sanders walks over
<Daniel> "This is considerably larger than mere quarrels..."
* William looks at Daniel. "oh?"
* Daniel turns and salutes Sanders
<Sanders> "Where have you all been?"
<Daniel> "Good day, m'lord. Fascinating speech."
<Daniel> "Predisposed."
* Brianna watches everything quietly with repressed emotion
* Sanders shakes his head
<Sanders> "I need to meet with the council, you come with me."
* Daniel nods.
<Daniel> "Yes, m'lord."
<William> "Finally! Some answers!"
<Angelo> "We were just on our way there."
<Storyteller> You follow Sander inside the Hall and up several flights of stairs
* William to Daniel. "We saved members of our own party from being wrongfully
executed-- remember that? This is smacking of familiarity, don't you think?"
* Sanders leads you to a conference room. The Anacerons all turn as you enter
* Brianna enters and nods to the Anacerons
* Angelo half-bows.
<Storyteller> "Good, your'e back," Ambrose says. Her brow furrows, "Where is Remy?"
<Angelo> "Our Centurion is gone."
* Daniel turns to William. "The trial of a magistrate is taken far more heavily than
that of even the most well-decorated soldier."
* Brianna freezes for a moment as a look of pain crosses her features.
* Daniel bows.
<Angelo> "It's a very long story."
<Daniel> "He was killed in action against the Malfean Markova."
<Storyteller> Ambrose stands, "What do you mean gone?"
<Brianna> "He sacrificied himself for us all, Ambrose."
<Storyteller> She sits back down a sad look on her face
<Sanders> "We have to discuss the Governor here."
* Daniel nods
<Daniel> "Indeed. There are many questions, and too few answers."
* Sanders looks over to you
<Sanders> "Exactly why I'm glad I found you."
* William whispers to Daniel. "There was a spectre in the crowd who was at fault for
accusing the members of our group for killing wraiths...maybe there is a spectre at
fault here, as well."
<Sanders> "You are the investigators who discovered the Blighted Sun, well now we
need you to discover the truth here."
* Daniel smiles. "I gather we have a new task, m'lord?"
<Brianna> "When was the governor accused of treason, and who is the man in the
Puritan clothing?"
* Angelo folds his hands behind his back and keeps his mouth closed.
<Ambrose> "The Inquisitor, showed up an hour ago, and made claims of proof that the
Governor had commited those crimes."
<Daniel> "He had best have convincing proof then, correct?"
<Ridley> "His proof is very convincing, we need to know if any of it's true."
<William> "So his men were allowed to take the governor off in chains, as it were,
just based on the word of an outsider?"
<Ridley> "He is no outsider, he's from Stygia."
* William is quiet for a moment
<Ridley> "He had offical papers."
<Brianna> "What was the proof he offered?"
* Daniel nods.
<Ridley> "Witnesses, strange circumstances..."
<Daniel> "May I be provided with a list of them?"
<LadyAnne> "And worse yet, the Governor's own memory."
<William> "Witnesses to what?" William looks frustrated and disbelieving.
<Daniel> "To keep track of during the investigation, of course."
<Brianna> "The governor's own memory? He remembers doing the things he's been
accused of?"
<LadyAnne> "Yes,"
<William> "I would like to get a look at this list of charges-- find out who these
witnesses are!"
* Angelo continues to watch impassively.
* Daniel puts a hand on William's shoulder and whispers "Calm down...we will get to
the bottom of this..."
<LadyAnne> "The witnesses are being held at the Hall of Silence, underguard."
<William> William's shoulder stiffens for a second, and then he takes a deep breath
and nods slightly.
<Daniel> "Excellent. I trust we will have free access to all evidence?"
<LadyAnne> "We will give you official sanction to question them, however it is up to
the Magistrate as to whether he'll allow your testimony."
* Daniel nods
<LadyAnne> "Who is your Centurion now?"
<Daniel> "In that case, may we have a writ? To avoid bureaucratic mix ups, of course."
* Brianna looks around at the group
* Daniel looks to the others, then at Lady Anne.
<Daniel> "None has stepped forward to take the mantle, of yet."
<Ambrose> "Their Centurion was killed, they need a new one."
* William thinks about the strengths and weaknesses of each member of the cohort
<Ambrose> "All of them have served faithfully and well, anyone of them could do the
job."
* Daniel gazes impassively
<Ladyanne> "Then choose now, and quickly.."
* William castes his eyes down
* Daniel turns to the others.
<Brianna> "Daniel...what about you?"
* Daniel smiles
<Daniel> "I could. But I would wish for it to be at least voted upon."
<Brianna> "You seem to stay the most cool-headed in times of stress..."
* Brianna looks around at the others to gauge their reactions
<Daniel> "We all must live with the consequences of this choice."
* William nods at Brianna
<Angelo> "Well then, let's vote. I got no problem with Daniel being our Centurion."
<Storyteller> Edward nods
<William> "I agree...Daniel has shown great leadership abilities."
* Ladyanne stands, "Then Centurion, here is your writ. Now hurry we haven't much
time.."
<Brianna> "No offense to anyone else, but I vote for Daniel."
* Ladyanne hands Daniel the writ
* Daniel smiles. "Many thanks."
<Angelo> "Anyone else here look offended?"
* Daniel turns and takes it.
<Daniel> "I shall serve you well, m'lords."
* Brianna raises an eyebrow and smiles
<Angelo> "Before we go, what about the rumors of the Grim Legion's revolt? Anaceron
Sanders' stirring speech aside, do you think that it's really going to stay
settled?"
* William does a gesture of knightly loyalty to Daniel
<Brianna> "Good question, Angelo."
<Ladyanne> "We hope,"
<Sanders> "I'll try to keep them from revolting, but you must hurry."
<Daniel> "We shall endeavor to do our best."
<William> "I'm sure that will be based on the court's finding...let's make sure if
finds the governor innocent."
<Angelo> "Hey..."
* Daniel looks at William. "And if, indeed, he is found guilty? What then?"
<Angelo> "My thoughts exactly."
<Sanders> "We don't know..."
* William turns to Daniel. "Then, my friends, I think we're facing another war."
<Angelo> "You gotta consider that it's -possible- he might be guilty, or you're not
any better than the Puritan."
<Daniel> "We must be objective, at the very least. Though our hearts cry out for our
champion to win."
* Angelo shrugs.
<Daniel> "Let us hope it comes not to war."
<Angelo> "This conversation can be had on the way to the Hall of Silence, can't it?"
<William> William's eyes look hard for a moment. "I believe in the governor."
* Daniel looks to the door. "I believe that we should make haste."
* Brianna nods and takes William's arm, leading him out the door, after quickly
bowing to the council.
<Sanders> "Good luck, the trial is tomorrow."
* Daniel bows to the Anacerons. "Fare thee well, lords and ladies. We shall return
with the truth."
