<Storyteller> The ride to the city is fairly uneventful. Your car was empty, and
most of the ride was in silence
* Bud puffs on his cigarette
<Storyteller> Finally the train stops just outside the city, you file out
* Lyle lights up another.
* Ben leaves the train
* Bud steps off, still puffing contentedly on his cig
* Edward steps off the train and looks around
* Lyle looks back at the train as he steps off. "Well, that was unusual."
* Bud looks at Lyle
* Edward looks to the city, and shrugs. "Lets get moving, men."
<Ben> "Yeah" says Ben as he starts walking
<Lyle> "Good plan."
* Bud follows
* Jack follows
<Edward> "All right, men, FALL IN." He starts jogging towards the city at a brisk pace.
* Lyle steps it up to a jog.
<Storyteller> You jog along for a time when something catches your eye
* Bud keeps the cigarette clenched between his teeth and jogs behind Edward
* Ben steps up his pace
* Jack drops into line and jogs
* Edward motions Lyle to move beside him
<Storyteller> A small barrow flame sparkles in the night, it flickers
* Lyle trots up next to Edward. "Yes?"
* Edward whispers to Lyle "See the flame? We're gonna avoid it...can't take chances.
Tell the others to keep their eyes peeled for hostiles or traps."
<Lyle> "Yes, sir."
* Lyle falls back in. "Everyone, keep on the ready. We're swinging wide around that
flame, got it?"
<Lyle> "Hostiles are likely, so no dozing off."
* Ben keeps alert
<Jack> "Yes sir."
* Bud nods
<Bud> "Yes sir!"
* Edward steps up the pace a little more, glancing around occasionally
* Doughboy holds his gun tight
<Storyteller> You continue to jog, and soon you can hear low voices in the night
* Edward slows down to a walk and motions everyone around
* Lyle closes, keeping an eye out.
* Bud follows Edward's orders
* Edward keeps his voice a low whisper. "Lyle...I want you to take point and keep
your eyes peeled for hostiles. We need to be quiet, and getting in a firefight
isn't the best option."
<Lyle> "Got it." He readies his weapon. "On your mark."
* Edward readies his rifle. "Move out." He sets a standard march as the pace, keeping
his eyes peeled
* Lyle moves into position, watching for any sign of trouble.
* Doughboy stays alert
* Bud falls into position
* Ben moves out
* Edward continues to march, looking around carefully
<Storyteller> Soon you begin to see figures in the darkness. None approach you, but
you can feel eyes everywhere
* Bud puffs at his cigarette, keeping his gun at the ready, eyes scanning the area
* Edward looks around and chuckles to himself
* Jack jogs along, rifle held in both hands
<Storyteller> As you march towards the city a voice comes from the darkness
<Storyteller> "You can't go that way."
* Bud whirls towards the sound of the voice
* Lyle perks up, weapon at the ready but not aiming.
* Edward continues to march. "Why not?"
* Ben spins, with weapon ready
* Doughboy spins aobut as well
<Storyteller> "It's spectre territory. You'll get yourself killed." a figure walks out
of the darkness. It is a short, african-american man. His eyes carry over you,
scrutinizing you.
* Bud folds his arms
* Edward stops and looks at him
<Storyteller> "Your'e Legionnaires aren't you?"
<Edward> "Yeah. And how do we know you're not a spectre?"
<Storyteller> The man shakes his head
<Storyteller> "Why would a spectre warn you of other spectres?"
* Edward shrugs. "Could be playing some kind of sick game. And maybe our friends lie
that way."
<Doughboy> "On the other hand, if he's speaking the truth, we could use all the allies
we can get."
<Jack> "I dunno..."
* Lyle leans in to the group, lowering his weapon. "He isn't a spectre."
* Edward nods to Lyle, then looks at the man. "So, who are you?"
<Storyteller> "You haven't answered my question, you with the Agency?"
<Storyteller> Another figure emerges from the darkness next to the man
<Storyteller> He whispers something in his ear and disappears into the shadows once
more
<Doughboy> "How do we know you aren't renegades or something?"
<Storyteller> The black man laughs
<Storyteller> He holds his hand up, "We are renegades."
<Storyteller> "And heretics, and freewraiths."
<Storyteller> He chuckles
<Doughboy> "Point taken. I suppose it doens't really matter right now, does it?"
* Lyle smirks. "Looks like our position is stated," he murmurs to Doughboy.
<Storyteller> "No, I guess not."
<Storyteller> "Are you all new here?"
* Bud looks to Edward for direction in dealing with these new wraiths
* Edward smiles "We've been out of town for a while."
* Doughboy nods to Lyle
<Storyteller> "It's safe everyone, they won't hurt us."
<Storyteller> As he says this several figures emerge, ordinary citizens who look
nothing like freedom fighters
<Storyteller> A few more men emerge these however do indeed look like renegades
* Bud stands ready behind Edward, ever alert
<Storyteller> "Your'e welcome to stay with us for a time. You've been out of action
for awhile, and alot has happened."
* Lyle takes this opportunity to light up. "Smoke, anyone?"
* Edward looks around. "So what's going on in the city? It hadn't fallen to the
spectres last we heard."
<Storyteller> "No, it hasn't, but several wraiths have gone missing. Know anything
about that?"
* Doughboy shakes his head at Lyle
* Lyle chuckles.
<Jack> "Uh...umm.."
* Jack glances at Edward
<Edward> "We might. Depends who you're talking about."
<Storyteller> He nods, "Thought so. My name is Gris-Gris by the way."
* Edward nods. "Edward Lovejoy."
<Storyteller> He motions you to follow him
* Doughboy falls into stride behind gris-gris
* Edward follows him
* Bud follows
* Ben follows
* Lyle walks along after everyone.
<Storyteller> The camp is filled with several other wraiths, he talks along the way
<Storyteller> "Maybe you can help us. We captured a spectre the other day. We can't
get her to talk, think you can?"
* Bud lights up at the thought of interrogating a prisoner
<Edward> "Sure."
<Storyteller> He leads to a small shack in a field just outside the encampment,
several men stand around it
<Storyteller> "It's here."
* Edward nods
<Edward> "Well, let's not waste time...how is it held?"
<Storyteller> "With chains like the Agency uses."
<Lyle> "Lovely. Have you just been asking it about the disappearing wraiths, or is
there anything else you want to find out?"
<Jack> "H..how did you...nevermind..."
<Storyteller> "We have been attacked by a few spectres lately, and all of them have
been screaming about a woman in shadows or something like that."
* Lyle nods.
<Storyteller> "Like some sort of battle cry."
<Doughboy> "A woman in shadows? Perhaps she's their leader?"
<Storyteller> "I don't know, that's what we are trying to find out.."
<Doughboy> "Well then...lets get to work, shall we?"
* Bud smiles
<Bud> "Yeah, lets."
* Edward opens the door to the shack
<Storyteller> You open the door to find a small spectre sitting in chains. it's eyes
fill with hate at it looks at you
<Doughboy> "Hiya, sweetheart."
* Jack takes a step back when he sees it, then slips into the shack and stays close
to the back wall
* Edward looks at the spectre. "Figures."
<Storyteller> The spectre spits at Doughboy
<Lyle> "Play nice, kids."
* Edward frowns "Cute. Very cute."
<Lyle> "What, do you recognize it or something?"
<Edward> "So are we gonna get started or are you gonna dress it up in baby clothes
and push it around in a pram?"
<Lyle> "Tempting. Anyone else want to have a go first?"
* Lyle cracks his knuckles.
<Doughboy> "Nah. I'm more tempted to shoot it."
<Edward> "I thought we'd do the "Bad cop, worse cop" routine. Who wants to be the bad
guy?"
* Lyle chuckles.
<Storyteller> The spectre laughs
<Storyteller> and then stops
<Jack> "Umm...Will violence do anything to it? B..b..besides kill it that is?"
<Lyle> "Well, Bud looked so excited when he found out we had a spectre to play
with..."
* Edward aims his rifle at the spectre. "Who told you that you could laugh,
creampuff?"
<Bud> "Forging material..."
* Lyle chuckles.
<Lyle> "Okay, you can have it when I'm through, then."
<Storyteller> it laughs again and you get a good looks at it's muck encrusted teeth
<Storyteller> It huddles in the corner again and watches you
<Lyle> "Yeah, laugh it up. You won't be laughing when we're through."
* Lyle blinks.
<Lyle> "Okay, ugly, talk to me. What's making the wraiths disappear?"
<Storyteller> The spectre struggles but it's in vain
<Storyteller> "One of use is among the living!"
<Storyteller> "It's destroying your ties!"
* Lyle frowns.
<Lyle> "Who is the 'woman in shadows'?"
<Storyteller> "Our Lady of Shadows! High Priestess of the Blighted Sun! She comes soon
and with her comes the end of this necropolis!!!"
* Lyle blinks, disturbed.
<Lyle> "How soon?"
<Doughboy> "Our ties?"
<Storyteller> It cackles at this
* Doughboy contemplates killing the messanger after this...
<Storyteller> "Four days!! Four days and you'll all die!!"
* Lyle turns to the group, a questioning look on his face.
<Lyle> "What else do you want to know?" he asks the group.
<Doughboy> "Ask it what happens in four days."
<Lyle> "What's going to happen in four days?"
<Storyteller> "In four days she comes and with her comes the greatest of our killers!
They will kill these pathetic wretches out here and move into the city!!!"
<Storyteller> Gris-gris pales at this
* Jack 's jaw drops
* Doughboy looks to Gris-Gris.
* Lyle turns around again. "I'm starting to lose it... anything else?"
<Doughboy> "What does it mean?"
<Storyteller> It begins to bang it's head against the wall
* Edward smirks. "Ask it where the person attacking our bonds are."
<Lyle> "Where is the one who is attacking our bonds?"
* Lyle is beginning to show signs of his struggle with the spectre.
<Storyteller> "It's gone! Destroyed by the ones who must die!!!! They will die too!
They are why the Lady of Shadow's comes!!!!"
* Doughboy points his gun at the spectre
* Edward laughs at the spectre. "It's dead?" He laughs again.
* Lyle shudders at that, and sits down heavily. "That's all I can get out of it." He
wipes his forehead and scoots back.
<Storyteller> "They will all die like you!!! She is the BRINGER OF OBLIVION and she
will kill the APPRENTICE!!!!!"
<Doughboy> "Calm the *fuck* down."
<Lyle> "Filthy thing."
<Doughboy> "Who's the apprentice."
<Storyteller> The spectre stands and begins to thrash against the wall
<Lyle> "I've lost it."
* Edward looks at Gris-Gris. "You want it for a souvenir? Or can we get rid of it?"
<Doughboy> "Shall we?"
* Doughboy gestures with his revolver
<Storyteller> "Kill the thing..." he says as he walks out closing the door behind him
* Edward nods. "Do it."
* Doughboy fires
<Doughboy> "I warned you, fucker."
<Storyteller> The spectre slumps to the floor and whimpers as it is consumed by
Oblivion <Storyteller> to be continued
