Episode 37 "The Harrowing of Paul"

<Storyteller> You are falling, it is a far fall and all that is going through your mind is your not knowing what is to happen next.
* Paul thrashes about, struggling against the fall.
<Storyteller> Finally there is a soft landing, the ground beneath you feels like wood or tile, your'e not sure
* Paul stands up and looks around.
<Paul> "What- where am I?"
<Storyteller> As you stand a light turns on, and you find yourself in a living room. <Storyteller> It looks strangely familiar, deja vu sets in...and an eerie feeling passes through you
* Paul shivers uncomfortably.
<Truth> "Greetings, Paul."
<Paul> "Who's there?"
<Paul> "Who are you?"
* Kate^ steps into the light
<Truth> "I am the voice of Truth. I have come to help you."
* Kate^ is tall and has brown hair
<Paul> "Help me? But where am I? What's going on?"
<Eidolon> *all is not as it appears, walk carefully*
<Truth> "Look around you. This place should stir some deep memories."
<Kate^> "You failed. Just like you failed me."
<Paul> "No! I don't even know what you're talking about!"
* Paul closes his eyes and puts his hands on his head.
<Truth> "Paul, listen to me. I know why you are here, and I know how you can get out. You must trust me, first. And you must learn."
<Eidolon> *remember paul... you are no longer the man that you once were.*
* Paul opens his eyes again. "Wait... I do remember this place..."
<Paul> "I used to... live... here."
* Paul speaks haltingly, as if clearing away the beginnings of a deep fog from his mind.
<Kate^> "You failed. New York is gone because you couldn't save it. Just like you couldn't save me."
<Paul> "New York! No! The spectres... I have to get back!"
<Truth> "I can help you get back, Paul. But you must be shown a few things, first."
<Eidolon> *Paul you must face this first, stand up to these lies and mistruths*
* Paul peers at Kate. "And I know you... I know your face."
<Storyteller> You hear a rolling sound, it sounds thick and clinks as it rolls down the stairs
* Kate^ puts her arms around Paul. "No. You can't go back. It's over. It's gone."
<Eidolon> *She lies*
<Truth> "Listen to her, Paul."
* Paul pushes her away. "I will go back, it is my duty. It can't be over."
* Paul looks for a doorway leading out, away.
<Storyteller> {Clink} {thud} {Clink} {Thud} {Clink}
<Truth> "But it is over, for now, Paul. As it was in life, as it is in death."
<Kate^> "Please, just stay. You let me die before. You turned your back and let me die. Don't turn your back on me again!"
<Paul> "Nothing's over! I'm still here!"
<Storyteller> You run out of the living room and find yourself near a stairway, rolling down the stairway is a bottle of vodka
<Eidolon> *Find the door paul, leave them to lie to each other*
* Bottle stops at your feet
* Kate^ runs after Paul
<Bottle> "This is the way out...one little drink."
* Paul whirls on Kate. "Who are you? I don't..." he halts as he sees the bottle.
<Eidolon> *Smash the bottle Paul, smash it and be free as you did once before*
<Kate^> "I'm your WIFE!"
<Eidolon> *She lies*
* Kate^ picks up the bottle
<Paul> "No! I'm not going to be a prisoner! I have to get out of here!"
<Truth> "Paul, you do realize that you killed your wife, don't you?"
<Eidolon> *Good Paul, find the way out*
<Paul> "I have to... to get back to the city... to stop the spectres..."
* Kate^ holds it out "Here. Drink. You won't have to remember the horrible things. You can forget, and stay here with me, forever!"
<Paul> "No!"
* Paul bats the bottle from her hands.
<Truth> "It's too late, Paul. Because you were careless, the city has fallen."
* Paul looks around, panicked, for a way out.
<Kate^> "I'm your wife! You said we'd always be together!" *Hurls the bottle at him*
<Eidolon> *The City still stands Paul, it still stands because of you*
<Paul> "It can't be too late!"
<Alcohol> A bubbling voice rises from the neck of the bottle. "Paul....take solace in me."
<Truth> "It was as your life was. Your carelessness was the death of you."
<Paul> "Oh, oh my God, I remember... you... you look like my wife."
<Truth> "The city has fallen, Paul. Only ashes remain of its glory."
<Alcohol> "I am your escape. I will wash away all your hurt. In me, you will find peace."
<Eidolon> *She looks like you wife, but she is not truly your wife. Would your wife say such things?*
* Paul looks frantically back and forth between the bottle and Kate.
<Eidolon> *Leave them, they are pain and hurt, you are beyond that now Paul*
* Kate^ holds out her arms, "Please.."
<Storyteller> Suddenly all is quiet, and your vision fades to black
<Paul> "This... this isn't right. Something, everything..."
<Storyteller> There are bells...and voices...you can smell baby's breath in the air
<Storyteller> You open your eyes, and you look upon the church and the altar, and the priest smiling at you
<Storyteller> The wedding march is beginning to play
* Paul blinks rapidly. "How..."
<Storyteller> and you see two brides are walking down the aisle
<Eidolon> *More lies*
<Truth> "You do know who they are, don't you, Paul?"
* Kate^ holds out her arm
* Kate^ smiles happily behind the veil.
<Eidolon> *They are but shadows of a life long gone Paul. Walk away from these lies*
<Paul> "Kate?"
* Kate^ whispers "Come on. This is it. We're finally getting married.
<Storyteller> You see one of the brides is kate, the other is a sultry blonde, she walks down the aisle and as she gets closer you begin to smell whiskey
<Truth> "This is the start of a happy marriage. But you ruined it."
<Paul> "But... we're already... we were..."
* Kate^ looks concerned, "What's wrong? We're what? Oh, please don't tell me you're having second thoughts..."
* Paul grits his teeth. "That's not how it was... is..."
* Alcohol smiles at you. "Forget her, Paul. I can be what ever you want me to. I'm the only one who really loves you, you know."
<Eidolon> *Yes Paul*
* Paul backpedals, shaking his head. "This isn't right..."
<Truth> "You must choose, Paul."
<Eidolon> *Walk away Paul*
<Truth> "One of them will give you eternal happiness and peace."
* Kate^ takes Paul's hand
* Paul looks torn.
<Eidolon> *This is all in the past, and the past is always the wrong choice*
<Paul> "I choose neither! This is past, the past is gone!"
* Alcohol touches your arm lightly, and you can already feel the giddy effects of alcohol seep pleasently into your mind
<Kate^> "It will be ok. It's just cold feet. We're getting married today."
<Truth> "That is not a choice, Paul."
<Eidolon> *It is the only choice Paul, walk away*
* Kate^ slumps to her knees, horror struck
* Kate^ starts to cry
<Paul> "This is a sham."
<Truth> "You've killed her, Paul. Destroyed her."
* Paul starts to turn towards Kate, but looks fiercely away.
* Priest looks at Paul
<Truth> "Your inability to choose, your fear has damned you."
<Paul> "None of this... this isn't how it happened..."
<Priest> "Well son? Are you ready for the ceremony?"
<Kate^> "Wha..? Why are you doing this to me? Please Paul..." Kate begs
<Eidolon> *Walk away Paul*
* Paul tilts his head back and screams to the sky, "I will not surrender!"
* Kate^ puts her face in her hands and sobs
<Alcohol> "Is it? What will you be without either of us? You'll be nothing. Choose. Kate can't offer you *anything*. All she will be is a burden."
<Truth> "You can still save yourself if you choose one of them now." * Paul runs down the aisle, away from the altar. "I'm sorry, Kate..."
* Kate^ looks at Paul, "Surrender to what? Love? what's s o wrong with that?"
<Storyteller> You run out the door and into a blinding light
<Storyteller> Outside, the sun shines, and you are high above the ground, a paint brush in your hand. Your house is looking better and better with each stroke of the brush
<Eidolon> *Be watchfull Paul*
* Paul pauses a moment, brush in hand.
<Truth> "A perfect portrait, Paul. Your house would have been marvellous for you and Kate to grow old together in."
<Truth> "Too bad you ruined it."
<Eidolon> *Another Lie*
<Paul> "But... the house looks fine..."
* Paul looks around. "Wait, how did I get here?"
<Truth> "You were here, painting. You just dozed off for a moment."
<Storyteller> You feel woozy
<Storyteller> There is something in your stomach, something that wants...needs
<Truth> "You see, Paul, you had led a perfect marriage up until now. You loved each other. A match made in heaven."
<Storyteller> you know how to fill that need
<Truth> "But you destroyed it."
<Truth> "And why? Why did you, Paul?"
<Storyteller> You dig in your pocket, and find a scotch flask
* Paul dips the brush in the can and moves it smoothly along over the wall, trying to ignore the voices and the growing feeling in his stomach.
<Eidolon> *The days of Flesh are gone Paul, and so are the needs of Flesh*
* Paul looks at the bottle. "I should finish the painting..."
<Eidolon> *Throw the bottle away Paul*
<Alcohol> The scotch flask feels warm and comforting in your hand. A voice drifts into your mind "You deserve a drink. Kate would think so, too. You've worked very hard."
<Truth> "You will finish the painting. But the perfect picture won't last long."
<Truth> "It will be marred by your own immature carelessness."
<Truth> "But you can make up for your life."
<Eidolon> *Nothing is perfect Paul, which proves this is a Lie."
<Paul> "I have worked hard, but... I'm not done yet. I'm not finished..."
* Paul pauses. "I'm not finished! Not finished, do you hear me?"
<Truth> "I can give you a chance to right all the wrongs of your life."
<Alcohol> "If you push too hard, you'll break down. Best to take a break. Toast to your success. To your beautiful wife."
<Eidolon> *Finish the house Paul*
* Paul shakes his head. "No! I can't change what's past!" He hurls the bottle with all his might, clinging to the ladder for support.
<Paul> "I have work to do!"
<Eidolon> *Yes you do*
<Truth> "You should have thought of that before. Now, your weakness has damned you. I alone can help you."
<Storyteller> You slip a bit and nearly fall
* Paul catches himself, heart pounding in his chest. After a moment's pause, he resolutely dips the brush back in the paint, and slows his breathing as he works on the house.
<Truth> "I can save you, Paul. Make your wrongs all right. Bring your wife back to you."
<Eidolon> *All of that is in the past Paul, one can NEVER go back*
<Paul> "If I'm going to do this, I'll do this right."
<Truth> "Do you remember how you and Kate used to sit in the park, watching the children play?"
* Kate^ steps outside the house
<Truth> "Do you remember how you always wanted children of your own? A living legacy."
* Kate^ carries a pitcher of lemonade.
* Paul grips the ladder, his knuckles turning white. "You can't bring it back, 'Truth'. No one can."
<Truth> "But I can, Paul. I can bring it all back."
* Kate^ smiles at Paul
* Paul shakes his head and finishes the stroke, suddenly seeing Kate out of the corner of his eye.
<Kate^> "Come on down and have some.... PAUL!"
<Truth> "You see? You have a lifetime ahead of you, if you listen to me. You can grow old with her, love her, have children."
<Kate^> "What is that God damn bottle doing in your hand?!"
<Eidolon> *Finish the house Paul*
* Kate^ hurls the pitcher at the side of the house
<Storyteller> You look down to find that the bottle is back in your hand
<Alcohol> "You'll *always* come back to me, Paul. Lets never forget that. Us two...it's you and I against the world. Your wife, she doesn't understand."
<Kate^> "For Christ's sake Paul you promised me!"
<Truth> "You ruined things again, Paul. When will you ever learn?"
<Truth> "You're a child at heart, Paul. But I can help you grow."
* Paul shakes his head, humming softly to himself as he tosses the bottle away again. "I have painting to finish."
<Eidolon> *All of this is the past Paul, Finish the House*
<Paul> "Sorry Kate, I'm not coming down till I finish this."
<Kate^> "No damnit!"
<Truth> "Paul, listen to me. If you apologize to Kate, you'll make things right again."
<Kate^> "You'll get down here and talk to me right now."
<Paul> "I don't have time to worry about that now..."
<Alcohol> "It's alright, Paul. you'll come back to me. Again, and again, and again. I make you whole. There's an emptiness inside you, and only my carress can help you"
<Eidolon> *Paint Paul*
<Truth> "You can live with her and be happy. Or you can be cursed to be alone."
<Paul> "I'm almost finished!"
<Truth> "There is no time like the present, Paul."
* Paul whistles a happy tune, reaching for a spot off to his right.
<Eidolon> *Finish here Paul and you can go back to New York*
<Truth> "Climb down the ladder and utter those two words that will send you to unending bliss."
<Paul> "I'll have this finished in no time, don't worry."
<Alcohol> "What's a house compared to the sights I can show you? What mortal dwelling can make you feel like I make you?"
<Storyteller> With the last stroke of the brush, there is a white light once more
<Eidolon> *All Lies*
<Storyteller> The white light grows brighter and brighter, you startle as the man next to you continues to pace
<Storyteller> "Dr. Littlefield, Dr. Littlefield to the Er please." say the annoying voice on the hospital pa.
* Paul tries to look around, to see where he is.
<Truth> "Know where you are, Paul? Know what you did?"
<Eidolon> *More of the Past Paul*
<Eidolon> *More Lies*
<Paul> "It's the hospital... but I was... done... I was..."
<Truth> "No, Paul. Think. Think about why you are here."
* Man continues to pace, he seems to be wearing down the rug
* Man stops and sits
<Paul> "I don't know... why... what's going on?"
<Man> "So what are you hoping for? A boy or girl?"
* Paul snaps into coherence, suddenly remembering.
<Truth> "One of the happiest days of your life, Paul. A child to call your own."
<Truth> "He even looks like you."
<Eidolon> *Forget this place Paul, it is a place of pain and regret, not one of happiness.*
<Man> "I'd like a girl, you know daddy's little girl."
* Man laughs a nervous little laugh
* Paul smiles slightly. "Boy, girl, it doesn't matter to me, as long as it has ten fingers and ten toes."
* Paul winks, but catches himself.
<Paul> "Wait, that's what I said, when..."
<Truth> "Get into the spirit some more, Paul. The fruit of your loins is being spread forth before the world! Be proud!"
* Paul touches his forehead.
* Paul looks confused. "Kate wants a boy, but..."
<Truth> "Pity you had to go and ruin this, too."
<Eidolon> *Again the Lies Start*
<Eidolon> *Look at your child Paul, do not listen to the Lies*
<Truth> "You ruined a happy life. And why? Carelessness."
* Nurse walks in
<Paul> "I should find a doctor... I should be in there with her..."
<Paul> "Nurse, can you tell me how Kate... how Kate..."
<Nurse> "Mr. Lovejoy? You can see your baby now," she says to you.
* Paul completes the sentence simultaneously. "...Lovejoy is... I can?"
<Eidolon> *Go see your child Paul*
* Paul smiles happily... "Is it a boy or a girl?"
<Nurse> "Why don't you see for yourself?"
<Paul> "Take me there!"
<Truth> "Toast the occasion, Paul. Smoke a cigar. Drink a bit."
* Nurse leads you to Kate's hospital room, you open the door to find Kate holding your child and smiling a weary smile at you
<Alcohol> "You do deserve it. Kate won't mind. It's cause to celebrate."
* Kate^ smiles, exhausted
<Eidolon> *Focus on the child Paul*
* Paul smiles at Kate and the baby. "Are you all right, sweetie?" He holds out his hands for the baby.
* Kate^ tilts the baby so you can see him
<Truth> "Celebrate, Paul! No one would blame you."
* Paul pushes down the cravings and tries to see his child's face.
* Kate^ nods then stops as you lean forward, moving the child away
<Kate^> "Paul..."
* Paul reaches out. "Can't I see my own child?"
<Kate^> "When you tell me what that is on your breath."
<Kate^> "It certainly isn't the smell of a cigar."
<Truth> "Paul, you've been a bad boy again. But I can help you."
<Eidolon> *Leave them Paul, this is all the past, a past that is long gone*
<Paul> "Nothing, but I... I haven't... It's okay... I'd just like to hold my baby..."
* Paul looks to the nurse for help.
<Truth> "Paul, this is that happiest day of your life! You can't leave now!"
<Kate^> "No. You've been drinking."
<Eidolon> *You are better than this, you are a strong leader whose troops need you*
<Eidolon> *walk away Paul*
<Alcohol> "See! She doesn't understand *anything*, Paul. *Everyone* has a little drink on such an occasion. Ditch the nag."
<Kate^> "I warned you."
<Paul> "My troops..."
<Truth> "Don't fail them like you failed everyone else."
<Kate^> "Nurse, I want him out of the room."
<Eidolon> *New York Needs You*
* Paul holds onto the rail of the bed. "Wait, my troops..."
<Alcohol> "Don't let her do this!"
* Nurse is standing looking at Paul with a disgusted look on her face
<Truth> "Your troops are gone, Paul."
<Paul> "I can't... I have to..."
<Eidolon> *These are nothing but lies, walk away Paul*
<Kate^> "Yeah troops. That's what you call it when you line up the shotglasses."
<Truth> "There is nothing left but this,"
<Alcohol> "Don't let her take your child. If you back down now, she'll take it from you. You'll *never* see it. She'll twist the truth"
* Paul runs from the room. "I have to... I have to get back!"
<Alcohol> "She'll make it sound like you're some sort of addict. She'll play the jury for fools."
<Eidolon> *Paul you have a higher purpose in death than you ever had in life*
<Truth> "You've lost everything, Paul. Don't be a fool."
<Kate^> "I'm leaving you!"
<Truth> "You can have this little bit if you'd just stick around."
<Eidolon> *People need you here, they look up to you, you are a Leader in the true sense of the word!*
<Alcohol> "You'll never see your child again if you back down. And what more prescious thing is there than a baby?"
<Paul> "I have to go back! I have to do something right!"
<Kate^> "I want a divorce! You'll never see your child!"
<Truth> "You're a failure, Paul."
<Truth> "This is your only chance to do right. Go back to her."
* Paul whirls from voice to voice, screaming. "No! I can do it!"
<Storyteller> Another white blinding light
<Storyteller> You find yourself walking on a small dirt road, the leaves in autumn are a bright orange, and brown. the woods smell wonderful
<Truth> "Pleasant, isn't it, Paul?"
<Paul> "...get back to my troops, I... I..."
* Paul looks around.
<Paul> "I remember this."
<Truth> "They're gone. Just relax a bit."
<Truth> "Calm down."
<Truth> "I thought you might."
<Paul> "It's so beautiful here..."
<Paul> "But... no, they can't be gone, not yet..."
<Truth> "It IS grand, isn't it."
<Paul> "I need to get... to get back to... to..."
<Truth> "They're gone, Paul. Because of you."
<Eidolon> *Step carefully Paul*
<Truth> "Just like your wife left you. Because you couldn't handle it."
<Truth> "You are a failure, Paul. Listen to me, and I can make things right."
<Paul> "No... that's not how it happened... we just... grew apart... or..."
<Alcohol> "Everything's gone from you, Paul. Except me. I told you, I'd be with you forever. And I can still ease your pain if you let me. Your failure to protect your soldiers doesn't have to hurt...."
<Truth> "You didn't grow apart. You couldn't handle the pressure, so you ran away."
<Storyteller> A car winds around the turn and strangely you hold out your thumb
<Paul> "No, I have somewhere I need to go... there's no time for a walk now..."
<Truth> "Your place is here, Paul."
<Storyteller> The car stops and you jog over to the drivers side
<Storyteller> A man rolls down the window, a man who looks strangely like....you.
<Storyteller> "Need a ride?" he says
* Paul steps back, startled.
<Eidolon> *Get in paul*
* Truth chuckles softly
<Storyteller> "Sure." you say and hop into the back seat of the car.
<Paul> "Going to..."
* Paul thinks a moment.
<Paul> "New York, by chance?"
<Storyteller> "You bet," he says.
<Truth> "You're going nowhere, Paul. The sins of your past still haunt you."
<Paul> "Thanks, buddy..."
<Storyteller> "It's my little boys bris today. Right honey?" he says to the woman next to him who looks like Kate.
* Kate^ smiles and nods
<Eidolon> *You belong in New York Paul*
<Paul> "Mazeltov."
<Storyteller> "Hop in," he says, and offers you a seat next to the child seat.
<Truth> "Let me help you, Paul. After all, I'm the only one that can."
<Paul> "Thanks. I'm glad for the ride."
<Storyteller> You sit down next to the boy, he looks up at you and smiles.
* Paul looks at the baby in the child seat.
<Paul> "He's a beautiful kid."
* Kate^ looks back at Paul ("real"). "Where did you say you're headed?"
<Storyteller> "He likes you, what's your name?"
* Paul suddenly spits out the words, "Tom Morgan, I'm going to NYU."
<Storyteller> "Good college," says the driver as he takes off.
<Truth> "Paul, there is a way you can save yourself, if you'd listen to me."
<Alcohol> "So ashamed that you can't even be truthful to yourself?"
<Eidolon> *You belong in New York Paul*
<Paul> "I can't tell you how much I appreciate this... I really can't wait to get back to New York."
<Storyteller> The driver smiles
<Truth> "Tell them the truth, Paul. The truth will set you free."
<Kate^> "Are you late for something?"
<Truth> "Tell them about your wife. Tell them about your drinking."
<Paul> "Sort of, I have some friends who need my help."
<Storyteller> The boy begins to cry
<Storyteller> "Honey could you give, Bobby his pacifier."
* Kate^ smiles
* Kate^ digs through the baby's bag
<Paul> "Bobby..."
<Paul> "Bobby..."
* Kate^ takes out a pacifier and reaches back
<Paul> "That's a... really great name."
<Truth> "You recognize the name, Paul?"
<Eidolon> *You are Paul*
<Kate^> "Name'd after his father."
* Paul reflects in silence for a moment.
* Kate^ gives the baby the pacifier
<Paul> "I like the name... Paul, myself."
* Kate^ holds up a flask of scotch. "Honey, where'd this come from?"
<Truth> "Are you having fun, Paul? Living a lie because you are afraid of the truth?"
<Rob> "I don't know, it must hav been there awhile..."
* Kate^ holds it up to Paul. "Is this yours?"
* Paul hesitates for a moment.
<Truth> "Admit it, Paul. Confess your sins."
<Alcohol> "Take the bottle, Paul. You know it belongs to you. *I* belong in you."
<Eidolon> *No*
<Paul> "No..."
<Paul> "I don't drink, sorry."
<Truth> "Liar!"
<Rob> "Umm honey why don't you put it in the glove compartment."
* Kate^ shrugs "Hmm. Oh well, we can throw it away when we stop."
<Alcohol> "You'll make her hate him to save your ride? You truely are low."
<Kate^> "Why?"
<Rob> "No don't throw it away."
* Paul smiles.
<Truth> "You are pathetic, Paul."
<Rob> "Your'e always nagging at me. You know I don't drink."
<Paul> "Throw it away, you'll be glad you did. That stuff causes nothing but trouble."
* Rob turns and looks at you
<Truth> "You're a worthless liar, Paul."
<Paul> "Hey, keep your eye on the road..."
* Kate^ nods. "He's right. We'll pour it out when we get home."
<Rob> "Hey I don't need any advice from a punk like you!" he says
<Paul> "Turn!"
* Paul points.
* Rob turns to look at the road
* Kate^ 's eyes widen. The baby drops his pacifier and starts to cry again
<Truth> "You've killed all of them."
* Rob spins the wheel but it is too late
<Truth> "You could have accepted the bottle, but you didn't."
<Storyteller> The car goes off the road and down the embankment
* Paul grabs onto the child seat, holding it in place.
<Truth> "Did killing a child make you happy, Paul?"
<Truth> "Did it bring you pleasure?"
<Storyteller> it flips and lands hood first into the field
<Eidolon> *There is no truth to this Paul, no truth at all*
<Truth> "I speak only the truth, you know."
<Storyteller> You crawl out of the wreck, there is blood everywhere
* Kate^ lays slumped against the windshield, having forgotten to put on her seatbelt after reaching back for the pacifier
* Paul looks around... "No! This is how it ended..."
<Eidolon> *No this is how it started*
<Truth> "It's all your fault, Paul."
* Paul moves around the car, wringing his hands in frustration.
<Eidolon> *An end is nothing more than a new beginning*
<Truth> "You killed them all. Are you proud?"
<Kate^> The baby's cries are silent
<Truth> "Did killing a kid make you feel proud?"
* Paul addresses "Truth" again for the first time in a while. "No! I'm not proud! But that was Rob. I'm not Rob, now!"
<Truth> "You are and always were Paul."
<Paul> "I can't change what happened, but I can damn well change what's going to happen!"
<Eidolon> *You are Paul*
<Truth> "Do you feel stronger, Paul?"
<Truth> "Did killing them give you a rush?"
<Kate^> Suddenly the baby is crying
<Paul> "I do! Because I'm not helpless! No matter what you try to make me think, I have a choice!"
<Eidolon> *The baby lives Paul*
<Truth> "You are helpless, Paul. Helpless and worthless."
* Paul reaches into the wreck, struggling to pull the baby's seat out with the baby within.
<Truth> "Your 'choice' killed people. And why?"
<Storyteller> The car door is smashed in,
<Eidolon> *A man who knows he has a choice is not helpless or worthless*
<Truth> "Your pathetic morals were more important than human lives."
<Paul> "My choices of the past are done! I can still set things right for the present and the future!"
<Storyteller> Your vision is going black, and you can see the hitchhiker pull the baby free.
<Storyteller> He runs over to the drivers side, and checks you over, you are dying you can feel the life pour out of you, put all you can see is moment of beauty as you look into your childs eyes....he will live

<Storyteller> Somewhere in New York
<Storyteller> The junkyard is as silent as the grave, as one of the cars begins to glow a faint green.
<Storyteller> He tumbles from the car onto the ground, tears fill his eyes as he stands
<Storyteller> he can see two wraiths run over to him, "You ok pal?"
<Storyteller> "Yeah I'm fine."
<Storyteller> "What's your name? What's your legion?"
<Storyteller> "Paupers...and I'm Paul."
<Storyteller> To be continued
