Episode 32 "Friends, enemies, and lost children"

<Storyteller> Somewhere in the waters outside New York harbor, Charlies' Pride is on her way to the dock. Several men begin to collect their things from their quarters.
<Storyteller> One man stands on the prow of the ship, watching New York come into view
<Storyteller> He walks over to the hold and lifts the hatch, he looks into the hold, and hundreds of eyes stare dumbly back at him. The drones stare at him for a couple of seconds
<Storyteller> He closes the hatch once more, and shakes his head
* Stevens from the crows nest, he looks out onto the Tempest. He scans the sea untill his eyes catch something.
* Stevens shakes his head and looks through the glass again
<Stevens> "It can't be..."
<Stevens> "Captian! There's a...rider approaching."
<Storyteller> Captian Sheffield looks through his glass. Indeed a rider is approaching, and as the ship gets closer he can see there are more...things coming this way.
<Stevens> "Spectres!!!!"
<Storyteller> With the hue and cry several of the hands grab their weapons, and the thrall master begins to concentrate on the Tempest
<Storyteller> The spectres leap from the waves onto the deck, the horse rider leaps from his mount onto the ship
<Storyteller> The battle doesn't last two mintues
<Storyteller> All lay upon the deck begining to fade away, all except the Thrall master
<Storyteller> The spectre they call Scar, walks over to him
<Storyteller> Two spectres hold his arms to keep him from using his power
* Scar scrutinizes the thrallmaster
<Scar> "Your'e one them aren't you, or at least you were. Am I right, Gerard?"
<Storyteller> Gerard looks him in the eye
<Storyteller> "I don't know what your'e talking about."
* Scar shrugs
<Scar> "Doesn't matter. You'll fade just the same."
* Scar pulls a strange looking gun from his cloak, and then stops
<Storyteller> "I won't tell you anything." says Gerard
* Scar lifts off the hatch to the hold, he looks at the drones and smiles. He stands and begins to concentrate.
<Storyteller> The drones begin to fall to their knees silently screaming as black viens begin to run through their corpea
<Scar> "I have a message for you former Cohort."
<Storyteller> "What's the message?" asks Gerard.
<Scar> "You are," says as in one motion he tears Gerard's arm from his corpus and bashes his leg with it, sending him down into the hold full on new and hungry spectres. The spectres fall on Gerard and begin to devour him. The screams mercifully do not last.

<Storyteller> Washington Park, the 82nd Cohort begins to gather from a week of rest
* William nods to the others. "Greetings."
* IronJohn looks a little different
* Hans is standing with the rest of the group.
* IronJohn now has tattered wings that look like they are made of sailcloth
* Daniel runs a hand through his wispy white hair, standing with everyone
<Storyteller> Remy walks up to the group
<Daniel> "Well, it looks like everyone's still with us."
<IronJohn> "Ye that it does mate."
* Remy nods
<IronJohn> "For a week of rest it sure wern't none to restfull."
<Storyteller> A legionnaire walks up to the group
<Hans> "Some of us were able to take a little bit of time off though."
<Storyteller> "Excuse me, are you the 82nd?"
* IronJohn turns to look at the man
<IronJohn> "Ey that we be indeed."
* William turns to the man
<Storyteller> "I have a message from Brianna. She says she is busy with Ambassador Ahuru at the moment and will be late. She said to carry on without her."
<IronJohn> "Ey thank ye Soldier."
* Daniel smiles, saying softly "Reminds me of an eshu I once knew..."
<Storyteller> The legionnaire nods and runs back into the crowd
<Remy> "Well that's that."
<William> "Bless you."
* IronJohn turns to Remy and says "Commander, now that our week of rest and relaxation is up shall we begin our little trip?"
<Hans> "For now."
<Remy> "Yes, who do we got to first, Renegades or Heretics?"
* Daniel chuckles mirthfully
<Daniel> "Who would be the least likely to kill us at first sight?"
<IronJohn> "Tis a toss up on either front Commander, however I would suggest the Heretics as our first."
<IronJohn> "William here may have some sway with them, being a holy man."
<Remy> "Sounds like de best plan."
<Hans> "I must say Ironjohn, your new appearance is definitely odd. Almost look like the devil himself."
<IronJohn> "I wouldn't go that far me lad, but they do come in handy."
<Storyteller> As you talk amongst yourselves, you can see an armed detachment heading your way. Anaceron Mateo leads the way.
* IronJohn turns to face them
<Mateo> "Hello, gentlemen."
* Daniel looks at them, the expression of mirth rapidly draining from his face
<IronJohn> "Greetings Lord."
* Daniel salutes. "Greetings, Lord Mateo."
<Hans> "Greetings Lord."
<Mateo> "I just stopped to say good luck out there. And to be careful, we have reports of a major spectre movement going on."
* Mateo looks down
<IronJohn> "Ey thank ye Lord, I have a deep felt feelin that we are going to need all the luck we can get."
<William> "Do you know where this movement is taking place? Any particular pattern?"
* IronJohn says with a smile
<Mateo> "They seem to have attacked a ship, and have corrupted it's cargo."
<Mateo> "Which brings me to some bad news."
<Mateo> "Your friend, Gerard, has been killed."
* IronJohn looks saddened
* William frowns sadly. He crosses himself anf bows his head
<Hans> "I never knew Gerard, but the loss of any person is indeed a sad moment."
<Mateo> "We have all lost good friends in this damn war. I just hope to god it wasn't in vain."
<IronJohn> "Ey...Indeed."
<IronJohn> "But always remember what we fight for...without the Hierarchy all here would be chaos."
<Mateo> "I must leave for the front, I'm hoping to meet the force head on. Again good luck."
* Daniel frowns at John
* Mateo heads off through the crowd.
<Daniel> "Aye. Chaos."
<William> "Indeed." William says, not even a whisper, merely moving his lips
<IronJohn> "Luck be with you as well Lord."
<Remy> "Let's get started."
* William nods
<Storyteller> You begin the long walk towards Heretic held territory
<Storyteller> Winding your way through alleys, streets, and the occasional building, you soon can begin to see a decent sized settlement
<Remy> "There they are."
* Remy looks to William
<Remy> "You do de talkin'."
<Daniel> "It's all up to you, holy man."
* William nods
* William steps forward, walking slowly toward the wraiths
<Storyteller> You walk into the encampment. A few of the Heretics notice you, but the others continue on with their activities
<Storyteller> One of the heretics walks towards your Cohort
<IronJohn> {Hans: They huddle togther like the poles in the camps....remember?}
<William> "Greetings to you."
<Hans> (I never was at the camps. So how can I remember?)
<Leif> "Are you with the Hierarchy?"
<IronJohn> {Hans: You might as well have}
<William> "I come as their...voice, but I am not a legionaire."
* Leif looks to the others
* Hans looks away from the heretics, tears in his eyes.
<Leif> "Are they with the Hierarchy?"
* William nods slowly
* Leif gets a strange look on his face
<William> "I fight at their side in a holy cause, to fight the darkness."
<Daniel> {William: You are the Messenger of Christ in this land. Command them, for they are my subjects, and I bequeath them unto you.}
<Leif> "Hallelujah! My friends they have come to save us from the dark tide that threatens to take us all!"
<William> "We have come to ask your assistance."
<Hans> {Daniel: Why bother yourself with this rabble. You are a Sidhe, and you don't need them to turn against you.}
<IronJohn> {Hans: Do you still remember any of their names? The ones that you had shot?}
<William> "The Heirarchy is seeking all the help it can find to fight this darkness."
<Leif> "Yes, we will help fight alongside those that have fought for us."
* IronJohn listens as William speaks
<Daniel> (That is right. I am Sidhe, and am bound by the Seelie Code to fight the darkness that plagues this land!)
<Hans> (No. I never did. Did you?)
<Hans> {Daniel: They too are the darkness that plagues the land.}
<Storyteller> The heretics all stands, their eyes filled with hope
* William smiles and bows. "Thank you. I assure you, they will be most grateful."
<Daniel> (Aye, but one must fight the greater evil first. Then worry about small battles.)
<Leif> "After the Hierarchy was pushed back we couldn't defend ourselves. Thank you for coming back."
<Hans> {Daniel: Remember those words when they betray you to the specres.}
<William> "May the Lord protect us and help us turn back the tides of darkness."
<Leif> "Amen!"
* William touches his crucifix
<Daniel> (Shade, I will fight to the last breath, as is befitting a noble of my stature.)
<Remy> "Good job, William. Now let's get to the renegades."
<Storyteller> You walk out of the camp, as the heretics begin to pack up and head to the Hierarchy.
<IronJohn> "I would like to see the looks on the Lord's faces when they come marchin into the camp."
* IronJohn says with a grin
<Storyteller> It's a short distance to the Renegade camp, as you get closer you can see a large amount of people there
* William smiles, but is is a somewhat disturbed smile
<Daniel> "So. Who's the target...er...negotiator?"
* William wipes it away.
* Remy looks at Daniel
<Hans> "You can do it."
* Daniel frowns
<Remy> "Why don't you do de honours?"
<Daniel> "Gee, thanks."
<Hans> "That's what you get when your a smart ass."
* Daniel sighs, tightens his belt, adjusts his scabbard and starts walking into the camp
<Storyteller> Several renegades stand up, their weapons out and aimed
* Daniel smiles at them
<Storyteller> "Who are you?" asks one of them.
* William holds his hands out about a foot infront of him, where they aren't too far from his sword, as they would be, were they out at his sides.
<Daniel> "I am Daniel Connelly."
* Daniel extends his hand
<Storyteller> "Are you a legionnaire?"
<Daniel> "Maybe. Or maybe I'm just a friend."
<Daniel> "Freedom fighters, we mean you no violence this grave day."
<Storyteller> "Get John, I think we have a legionnaire." he says to one of the men.
<Storyteller> The man goes running into the camp and soon he and a taller man come walking towards you all
* John looks you over
* Daniel looks at him calmly
<John> "Well then, Daniel Connelly. You Irish?"
<John> "Scottish, pehaps?" he says in a Scottish accent.
<Daniel> "It's in my bloodline somewhere. But I certainly don't come from the Emerald Isles."
<John> "Aye then, what do ye want?"
<Daniel> "I seek the assistance of you and your men."
* John snorts
<John> "Ye do, do ye. Have the mighty fallen so far as to need the help o' the great unwashed?"
<Daniel> "These are desperate times, sir."
* Daniel smiles
* John looks to his men. Most of them look tired, weary, hopeless.
* John sighs
* Hans whispers to William. "When we get back to Washingtom Park, could you help me with the... darker part of myself."
<Daniel> "And we could use warriors such as yourselves."
<John> "Fine then we'll help ye. But ye tell the governor this, that when this war is over, martial law will repealed for good."
<John> "If my men are to fight for the city, they might as well get their freedom too."
<Daniel> "I give you my oath that I will deliver the message to him myself."
* William nods
<John> "I'll be there in a day, I need to prepare my men."
* William looks at Hans carefully
* Daniel extends his hand
<Daniel> "Fare thee well, sirrah."
<John> "Go now, after I tell the men, I canna assure yer safety."
<Daniel> "Aye."
* John walks back to his men
* IronJohn turns and leaves
* Daniel turns and walks back to the cohort
* Remy pats Daniel on the back as you all leave
<Remy> "You did well out there."
<IronJohn> "Ey that was a good job indeed Daniel."
* Hans walks alongside William.
* William looks at each of the others
<Remy> "Let's get back and meet up with Bri."
<Daniel> "Pah. They needed guidance anyways. They needed acknowledgement that they did indeed exist."
<Daniel> "Sometimes I think that's what's at the heart of the problem..."
<Storyteller> You finally make it back to Washington Park, as you enter you begin to look for Brianna, but you cannot seem to find her.
<Storyteller> You stop as you see a familiar figure waiting where Brianna should have been
* Ahuru motions for you
* Daniel walks quickly over to him
* IronJohn joins him
* Hans walks over to Ahuru.
* William walks over
<Ahuru> "I bring to you dire news. Brianna has been kidnapped by the one they call Scar."
* IronJohn scowls
* Daniel frowns
<Daniel> "That is dire news indeed."
* Hans looks down. "A day of successes is always lost by one unfortunate occurence."
<Ahuru> "You must rescue her, or she will be lost."
* William crosses himself and bows his head.
<IronJohn> "Do you know where they went?"
<Ahuru> "No. That is hidden from me. She is..in the city."
* William prays for Brianna
<Hans> "Then we cannot waste anymore time. We must find her quickly."
<IronJohn> "How long ago was she taken?"
<Ahuru> "Heed my words, rescue Brianna, and run. Do not fight, run...run as if the devil himself as chasing you."
* IronJohn looks at Ahuru for a moment
<Ahuru> "Scar will call to you, do not face him."
* Ahuru walks to William
* William looks at Ahuru
<Ahuru> "Do not face him. No man can kill Scar."
* Daniel smiles
<IronJohn> "We are no longer men."
<Daniel> "We'll be sure to avoid him."
* William does not respond, he simply turns and follows his friends
<Ahuru> "Everyone has a destiny, his lies not with any of you..."
<IronJohn> "Lets go see a man about a Barghest."
* William slips over to Hans and whispers, "I will help you at the first chance we get."
<Hans> "Thank you William."
